The Tottenham players continue to be put through their paces at Hotspur Way following their summer break, and some of the club’s academy youngsters are featuring prominently in the drills.

Over 20 Spurs players are part of the first group returning from the summer break, including new signings Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, who have been working hard at the training ground over the last week.

Roberto De Zerbi has only five more days to prepare ahead of Tottenham’s first friendly of the summer, with the Lilywhites set to take on MK Dons in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Hotspur Way.

A 17-year-old Spurs starlet, who dominated at youth level, has prominently featured in the pre-season images and videos shared by the club on social media.

Luca Williams-Barnett is heavily involved in pre-season training with Tottenham’s first team

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has pointed out that Luca Williams-Barnett, who excelled for the U21s last season, continues to be involved in the ongoing work with De Zerbi and his staff.

The teenager netted six goals and provided five assists in 10 outings in Premier League 2 last season while scoring seven times in six matches in the UEFA Youth League.

Gold says that there are ‘high hopes’ within the club for Williams-Barnett, who made his senior debut in the Carabao Cup under Thomas Frank last season.

The attacking midfielder suffered an injury towards the end of last season, but appears to have fully recovered in time for pre-season, as De Zerbi gets a closer look at him.

Other academy starlets such as Harry Byrne, Tye Hall and Rio Kyerematen have also been spotted training with the senior side at Hotspur Way over the last few days.

Two young Spurs starlets have bulked up physically

Gold also notes that Will Lankshear and Mikey Moore have both visibly bulked up in preparation for the new season following their impressive loan spells at Oxford United and Rangers, respectively.

The striker’s bigger frame will undoubtedly be an asset as he looks to make the jump up to the highest level, while Gold suggests that with Moore, it is more of a case of the winger’s body naturally filling up as he gets older.

The journalist adds that the 18-year-old is considered ‘not for sale’ by Spurs and reveals that Tottenham have already rejected approaches from Sporting Lisbon, Wolves and Southampton for the 21-year-old striker.
