Former Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor has offered his prediction for Tottenham vs Aston Villa this weekend, and it may shock people.

Tottenham Hotspur need to start picking up points this season if they are to avoid slipping into another relegation battle, having finished 17th in each of the last two campaigns.

However, after four games, that has been far from the case, with Spurs managing just two points from a possible twelve and finding themselves five points away from fifth.

This weekend, though, is another opportunity for Tottenham to get their first Premier League win, as they take on fellow strugglers Aston Villa.

Gabby Agbonlahor is not optimistic about Aston Villa’s chances against Tottenham

Villa find themselves in 19th place in the Premier League table and are also winless this campaign after a summer of massive changes.

The last time the two sides met, Spurs came out on top, securing their second win of 2026 after a four‑month wait during their visit to Villa Park last season.

Now, Tottenham find themselves in a similar position as they chase their first Premier League victory of the current campaign – and former Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes they will get it.

Speaking to itsalloutfootball, he said when asked if he is optimistic about Aston Villa: “No. Do you know why? Because over the last five years, whenever a striker has not scored in 35 games, they score against Villa. Whenever a team has not won in ten games, they beat Villa.”

Agbonlahor predicts Spurs win and highlights Villa’s injury crisis

Agbonlahor also shared his match prediction ahead of Saturday’s early kick‑off in Premier League matchweek five.

He added: “We are the team that always get you off the hook when you are going through a tough time. Spurs have not scored this season in the Premier League – they will score and probably score two or three against Aston Villa, especially with our problems at the back.

“Lindelof made Liam Delap look like Romario last weekend, so I worry about us defensively. Pau Torres is out injured, Maatsen is out injured. I am worried for this game for Aston Villa. I think Spurs beat Aston Villa.”

Indeed, Villa have an injury crisis they are contending with, as boss Unai Emery struggled to keep track of the number in his pre‑match presser.

Speaking about Villa’s injuries, he said: “We have so many players injured, so it is difficult to mention everyone. Marco Bizot is out, Onana is out, Cisse is out. Pau and Maatsen are out. Goretzka is out. Madjo is out.”

The number of players missing for Aston Villa is almost double that of the Lilywhites.
