More of a work in progress but no less welcome for that. It was a good run out with some evidence of his trademark full blooded running and tackling. A great quick long throw properly controlled by Harry would have proved a collector’s item assist.

Match Summary

It was a tepid affair. Let’s face it after Sunday’s trauma it was just what the team needed in terms of rehab. Southampton were so tentative that Spurs grew increasingly sloppy, finally – with a three goal cushion – relinquishing the contest entirely, allowing Southampton to pass prettily in front of them. The goal was somewhat inevitable and who would begrudge Southampton the consolation?

The result, coupled with Chelsea and Arsenal’s inability to get three points in their respective matches last night means that Tottenham move up to third in the Premier League table.

Next up is a trip to Leicester City on Saturday evening.
