There have been contrasting reports on Micky van de Ven’s future over the last 24 hours as Tottenham fans face the prospect of losing both their captain and vice-captain this summer.
While Cristian Romero is expected to leave Spurs this summer, it had been reported over the last few weeks that Van de Ven is expected to remain at Tottenham and may even sign a new contract.
In fact, the Dutchman has already hinted publicly that he will be at Hotspur Way next season.
However, on Thursday, Dutch publication Telegraaf revealed that Liverpool and Barcelona were both looking to pounce on Van de Ven after the centre-back’s contract talks with Tottenham stalled.

Fabrizio Romano hands Tottenham fans some good news on Micky van de Ven
The update from the Telegraaf even claimed that the defender is open to listening to offers that come his way this summer, and is willing to move to a club where he can challenge for silverware.
However, Fabrizio Romano has now poured cold water on these assertions, stating that neither Liverpool nor Barcelona are planning to make a move for Van de Ven.
He revealed that the Dutchman is seen as a key part of the ongoing project at N17 and is not expected to leave this summer.
Roamano wrote on X: ‘Understand no move to Liverpool or Barcelona is planned for Micky van de Ven. Tottenham see the centre-back as a key part of the project; Roberto De Zerbi wants him to stay. No exit planned this summer.”
Another European giant also eyeing move for Van de Ven
It was reported by The Sunday Mirror at the start of this week that Real Madrid are also eyeing a big-money move for Van de Ven.
The report claimed that Jose Mourinho wants to build a title-winning side at the Santiago Bernabeu and had asked Madrid to sign the 25-year-old, who is allegedly valued by Spurs in excess of £75m.
De Zerbi has described Van de Ven as the best left centre-back in the Premier League, and it would certainly come as a huge setback to the Italian to lose his defensive talisman.
