Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been debating the future of Ben Davies after fresh reports suggested a decision could soon be made over his stay in north London.
Several of Tottenham Hotspur‘s longest-serving players have since departed north London as the club continues to freshen up its squad.
Last summer, Heung-min Son left N17 after a decade-long stay and a Europa League triumph that ended Spurs’ long trophy drought.
This came after the likes of Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris also departed in previous transfer windows, effectively leaving Ben Davies as the club’s longest-serving player.
Davies’ contract is set to expire this summer, and it has since been revealed that Tottenham are looking to extend the Welsh international’s deal.

Tottenham fans react to Ben Davies contract extension plans
Spurs fans have not wasted any time reacting to the latest reports stating that Davies’ contract is set to be extended.
Many supporters are of the opinion that a new deal is not needed for the Wales international, who is now 33 years old. One fan said: “If he’s not going to play then why pay his wages? Why have him on the roster and then complain about how bloated & incompetent our squad is?”
Another added: “This shameful club is too afraid to move on from finished players. This guy should have been released at least 3 years ago.”
One more Tottenham supporter commented: “I guarantee you Ben Davies will play a cup game vs a League 1 side and he will look below average and we will nearly get dumped out because of it. He should’ve been gone 5 managers ago.”
Other fans, though, were more open to his contract being extended. One supporter wrote: “Can’t believe people have the energy to get fake mad at this. He’s literally not going to play. The 2 positions Ben Davies plays (LB & LCB) have already had players signed in Robertson & Senesi. It’s not like Udogie or Van de Ven are going anywhere too. Great for the changing room, great mentor for this young squad & seemingly admired by De Zerbi (& every other Spurs manager since Davies joined).”
Replying to those comments, another Tottenham supporter added: “Absolutely spot on. This man has deserved and earned his renewals each and every time. Leader, mentor etc etc. We need him in the dressing room.”
Another supporter in favour of the renewal commented: “It’s a good deal in my opinion, I think he’ll be invaluable to the changing room and then great in a sporting capacity, he’ll know first hand what the squad and club need to move forward on the field.”
Spurs value Ben Davies’ influence off the pitch
Ben Davies, who Archie Gray described as “incredible”, is indeed a mentor at Tottenham and is often credited with helping youngsters settle into the squad.
Gray revealed last year that Davies and his family took him in during his first season at the club as he looked to settle into life in north London.
The Welshman is currently the final player from the Mauricio Pochettino era, having spent more than a decade in north London.
With him now 33, any contract extension is likely to be for another year, after which Davies could potentially move into a coaching role.
Spurs Web recently revealed that Tottenham are exploring the possibility of hiring both Davies and Toby Alderweireld.
