Tottenham Hotspur may have to wait a few more weeks in order to finalise Guglielmo Vicario’s sale to a Serie A giant.

Vicario may have been hoping to seal a departure from Tottenham before the start of pre-season, but that has not happened, with the Italian being among the first group to report back to Hotspur Way today.

It has been reported over recent weeks that Juventus are confident about landing the Tottenham star after making him their top goalkeeping target.

However, the Bianconeri have also assessed moves for various Vicario alternatives, and it turns out that the 29-year-old’s switch to Turin is a long way from being a reality just yet.

Tottenham’s asking price for Guglielmo Vicario deemed too high for Juventus

According to TuttoJuve (as relayed by Sport Witness), the Italy international has already informed Tottenham he wants to leave and specifically that he wants a transfer back to Serie A.

However, despite Vicario’s proactiveness in seeking an exit, there has not been any major progress on his future.

This is because Spurs have completely shut the door on a loan move for the experienced goalkeeper, making it clear that they only want a permanent sale.

The North London club are looking for a fee of around €15m to €20m (£12.7m-£17m), but that is deemed ‘too high’ by the Bianconeri.

Vicario’s transfer timing will depend on Juve’s sales

TuttoJuve say that the Serie A giants’ inability to meet Tottenham’s asking price for the goalkeeper comes down to the presence of Mattia Perin and Michele Di Gregorio at the club.

Both goalkeepers are expected to leave the Allianz Stadium this summer, but their exits have been dragging out.

It is revealed that once their sales go through, Juve will have the funds they need to push through a deal for the Tottenham number one.
