One of the very few positives from what was an abysmal performance from Tottenham in their 2-1 defeat to West Ham yesterday afternoon was the performance of Gareth Bale.
Despite coming on only at half-time, the Welshman was arguably Tottenham’s best player at the London Stadium where he was a threat every time he got on the ball.
Bale assisted Lucas Moura’s goal with a pin-point delivery from a corner and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after his rasping drive came off the woodwork to deny Spurs an equaliser.
It was the 31-year-old’s second impressive showing in a matter of just a few days on the back of another promising display in the 4-1 win over Wolfsberger on Thursday, a game in which he scored one and assisted another.
It is not just Spurs fans who were impressed with what they saw of the on-loan Real Madrid star but some West Ham fans also took to social media to admit that they could not cope with the winger in the second half.
Here’s how they reacted after getting the three points against Mourinho’s men:
What a win. Cant get over how nervy that last 20 was. Bale changed the game and we couldn't cope until Johnson came on. Solid performance tho. Rice with an absolute life saver of a clearance. Onto city. COYI ⚒

U have to credit @SpursOfficial we were lucky in that second half. Bale made a huge difference. Fantastic @WestHam defending against what felt like the entire spurs squad of attackers. #coyi

Ugly second half thanks to Bale, cannot understand why he wasn't on the pitch from the start as he always plays well against us, but Top 4 is all that counts. #WHUTOT #COYI

Spurs Web Opinion
Bale’s performance and his body language has looked a lot better in the past few weeks. Whether it is because he is finally getting close to his full fitness or if it is because he wants to prove critics wrong, I have no doubt that he can be a massive asset for the side in the next few months.
