‘He looks on fire’ – Bale’s ex-Spurs teammate admits he cannot wait for his return

Former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton has admitted that he is excited to see Gareth Bale putting on a Spurs shirt once again after watching footage the Welshman training at Hotspur Way.

Over the last few days, some Spurs fans on social media have admitted that they have not looked forward to a league match as much as the game against West Ham on Sunday for quite a while owing to Bale’s return.

Clips of the Welshman banging a few goals in with his magical left foot at Hotspur Way has only served to increase the anticipation over his second debut for the club.

Reports indicate that the 31-year-old will be fit to play a part on Sunday when the Hammers travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (Telegraph).

Hutton played alongside Bale for three and a half seasons at White Hart Lane and saw first-hand the 31-year-old’s rise from being a bit-part player to one of the most feared wide men in Europe.

The former Spurs right-back admitted that his former teammate looks happy to be back in familiar surroundings.

He told Football Insider: “I’ve seen all the Instagram clips in training and he looks on fire, he looks hungry if I’m honest, he looks really happy, he’s smiling, he’s joking, he’s training hard by all accounts.

“He’s a player I think is absolutely fantastic, I was lucky enough to play alongside him and against him. Everyone will be desperate.

“What a lift, they’re playing so good at the moment so to imagine playing that well plus having the ability to bring him on or, when he’s up to full speed, playing, I think it’s great for everybody.

“It’s great for the league, it’s great for the club so I’m really looking forward to seeing him playing and hopefully he can hit the heights we know he can because it’d be absolutely fantastic.”
