How Daniel Levy felt after being asked to leave Tottenham after 24 years

Daniel Levy was not keen to step down as executive chairman of Tottenham Hotspur after being asked to do so, with the 63-year-old having planned for some big changes at N17.

Out of the blue, Spurs announced on Thursday that Levy had stepped down from his role as executive chairman of Tottenham, a position which he has held for nearly two and a half decades.

However, since then, reports have indicated that Levy was asked to resign rather than stepping down of his own accord, with the Lewis family making the decision following a thorough review of the club.

According to some sources, Levy was completely blindsided by the decision to remove him, having only been told the news hours before the club’s announcement on Thursday.

Daniel Levy was reluctant to leave his role at Tottenham

TBR Football have now said that the 63-year-old was reluctant to give up his role at the top of the North London club when the owners informed him of their decision.

Levy had played a key part in what was a busy summer transfer window for Spurs and the appointment of Thomas Frank.

He was about to confirm the return of his close confidante, Fabio Paratici, as the head of Tottenham’s footballing department.

The outlet also adds that the Lewis family have been considering parting ways with Levy for many months before finally pulling the trigger a couple of days ago.

Fabio Paratici is not certain to return to Tottenham

TBR Football say that following Levy’s exit, Fabio Paratici’s return to Tottenham in an official role, which was previously a done deal, has now become uncertain.

This has also been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who has said that Paratici will now consider his options following Levy’s exit.

According to some sources, Levy never had a closer relationship with anyone in football than the one with Paratici.
