Tottenham Hotspur are expected to strengthen their attack this summer, and a new report suggests that Marcus Rashford could become an option.

Spurs Web have previously reported that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sign a forward ahead of the summer transfer window.

It comes as no surprise, given the Lilywhites’ struggles in front of goal last season, when they managed 48 goals in the Premier League, outperforming just eight teams.

Richarlison was Spurs’ leading goalscorer with 12 goals in all competitions, while the next-best returns came from defender Micky van de Ven and Joao Palhinha, who both managed seven each.

Tottenham hold talks over Marcus Rashford transfer

Dominic Solanke‘s continued struggles with injuries have not helped matters. The Englishman spent a whopping 164 days sidelined through injury, including the first three months of the season.

Solanke’s injury issues also kept him out of the England World Cup squad, and he is set to join Spurs on their pre-season tour, which begins in July.

Richarlison remains the subject of significant transfer speculation and could be moved on as Tottenham continue their rebuild.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs have now shown interest in signing Marcus Rashford this summer after a 28-goal contribution season with Barcelona, during which he scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists.

The wide forward is on loan from Manchester United and currently earns £325,000 a week, although it is claimed he is open to taking a pay cut to force a move to Barcelona.

Aston Villa are also keen on the forward, having previously had him on loan.

Spurs face competition for Marcus Rashford signing

Rashford’s preference is to remain in Spain with Barcelona, who hold a £26m option to buy him.

Spurs Web reported on Tottenham’s interest in signing the Manchester United man last summer and could make a move now, with discussions said to have taken place over a potential deal.

Arsenal are also believed to have held similar discussions. Barcelona are on the lookout for a new striker following Robert Lewandowski’s departure, despite completing the signing of Anthony Gordon.

However, with Rashford still a Manchester United player, talks are planned between the forward and the Red Devils as he seeks greater clarity over his future.
