Mathys Tel will have an important role to play at Spurs

Dominic Solanke is currently out with an injury and with Richarlison suffering yet another setback against Liverpool, it has made the Tel signing even more important for Spurs.

The Frenchman will lead the line for the Lilywhites for the time being and Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that he can hit the ground running.

A fresh update has now suggested that the hope at N17 is that the 19-year-old will prove a huge success at the club and steer them into a new era.

What Tel is thinking about his Spurs spell

This update comes from GiveMeSport, who claim that the Tottenham newcomer is ‘totally focussed’ on making his move to the Premier League side a success.

Postecoglou’s plan is to make Tel a ‘key figure’ in Spurs’ attack, with the Australian seeing the player’s pace and finishing ability as a significant upgrade on what he had before.

The report explains that the Tottenham boss was clear to the Bayern loanee before his arrival that he does not want this to be a short-term signing.

Postecoglou reportedly believes the club’s overall package could convince the France Under-21 international to make a permanent switch at the end of the season.

Could Postecoglou’s future be tied to Tel’s?

We have been hearing plenty of reports over the last few days regarding how influential Postecolgou was in Tel’s decision to come to Spurs.

One does wonder if Tottenham’s chances of landing the forward permanently would be jeopardised if the 59-year-old is sacked by the club.

That might come into the thinking of Daniel Levy and Johan Lange when they make a decision on Postecoglou’s future.
