How much prize money Tottenham earned for reaching Europa League semifinal

Tottenham Hotspur’s coffers are set to receive a significant boost after the club sealed more prize money for progression into the semifinals of the Europa League with a 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on aggregate.

While things continue to go from bad to worse in the Premier League for Spurs, their fans can now start dreaming about lifting the Europa League after they sealed their spot in the final four with a hard-fought away win at Deutsche Bank Park.

The win breaths new life into Tottenham’s season and one could see from the celebration of the players and the coaching staff just what the result meant to everyone at the club, especially given the struggles that the side have gone through this campaign.

Daniel Levy will also be pleased with what this win means for the club’s bottom line, with a report shedding light on how much prize money Spurs have earned so far and how much more they stand to earn if they lift the trophy.

Tottenham set for financial boost with Europa League prize money

According to UEFA’s information, Tottenham already stand to receive an eight-figure sum after progressing to the semifinals of the competition.

Based on how the prize money breakdowns work for each win in the group stage and the subsequent rounds, Spurs have so far banked £12.97m in UEFA Europa League prize money.

If Tottenham overcome Bodø/Glimt and make it into the final, they will be guaranteed to earn at least another £5.9m, which is the amount awarded to the runner-up.

If Spurs are to lift the trophy at the San Mames in May, they will gain an additional £10.9m, which will take the club’s total earnings in prize money to £23.8m.

Why this financial boost is timely for Tottenham

Tottenham have posted a loss for the fourth financial year in a row, and Daniel Levy has issued a warning about the club’s unsustainable transfer spending.

This prize money will thus be extremely crucial, along with the additional matchday revenue that Spurs will be making as a result of going far in the Europa League.

If the club manage to lift the trophy, that will be hugely significant, not only because of the additional revenue brought in by Champions League qualification but also in terms of the kind of players Spurs can attract in the summer.
