Tottenham Hotspur are set to make a healthy fee from the sale of academy graduate Will Lankshear to Middlesbrough.
Many Spurs fans were excited about the striker’s potential after he scored 14 goals and registered four assists across all competitions for an Oxford City side, who were relegated from the Championship last summer.
Unsurprisingly, Lankshear has attracted plenty of interest all summer, and one club has now emerged as the clear frontrunner to land the centre-forward.
It emerged on Monday that Middlesbrough were in advanced talks to sign the Spurs academy graduate, and the Lilywhites’ coffers are set to be boosted significantly if the deal goes through.

Tottenham set to get eight-figure fee from Will Lankshear’s sale to Middlesbrough
TEAMtalk have now confirmed that Boro are making ‘significant progress’ in their efforts to sign the Tottenham striker, having moved into pole position.
The Championship club identified the striker as their priority target and have been working hard behind the scenes on a deal since the start of the summer.
With negotiations at an advanced stage, Lankshear is expected to soon seal a move to the Riverside Stadium.
The outlet added that Boro are ready to pay ‘more than £10m’ to Tottenham for the forward after seeing him dominate the Championship at the Kassam Stadium last term.
Lankshear wants to seal a permanent exit from Spurs
TEAMtalk explain that the player is keen to leave Tottenham in search of regular first-team football, and he prefers a permanent exit rather than another loan move.
Boro have presented a clear path to consistent senior football for the striker, which has convinced the player that a move to the North East is the right next step for him.
Kim Hellberg’s men are set to beat the likes of Burnley, Wolves, Ipswich and Hull City to Lankshear, and Spurs are expected to insert a substantial sell-on clause and a buy-back option in the deal.
This is because many at Hotspur Way believe that the 21-year-old has the potential to develop into a Premier League striker over the coming years.
