Roberto De Zerbi has provided a promising update on the fitness of Dejan Kulusevski following the Tottenham squad’s return to London to continue their pre-season.

The Swede has missed more than a full season of football due to a knee injury, and there have understandably been fears from some Tottenham Hotspur fans about whether he will ever return to his old heights.

Earlier this summer, Sweden’s team doctor explained the Tottenham man’s cartilage injury is in a tricky spot, and it is not recovering quickly enough due to the stress that it is under.

However, Kulusevski has been stepping up his rehabilitation over the last few months, and there now appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel for the former Juventus man.

Roberto De Zerbi’s hopeful message on ‘one of Tottenham’s best players’ Dejan Kulusevski

While De Zerbi did not give clarity on whether he expects the attacking midfielder to be fit in time for the start of the season, he insisted that Kulusevski is one of the best players at Tottenham when fully fit.

The Italian refrained from putting pressure on the 26-year-old to rush back, but he is hopeful that he could be back sooner rather than later.

De Zerbi told Football.London: “Kulusevski, fit and right, he’s one of the best players we have in the squad. I wouldn’t like to put too much pressure on him to accelerate the process of rehab, but I hope he can be available as early as possible.”

De Zerbi lavishes praise on ‘big potential player’ Antonin Kinsky

Antonin Kinsky has continued his fine performances in pre-season after ending last campaign strongly, but the Tottenham boss believes that the goalkeeper can further improve his distribution.

The Italian has now reiterated that he believes that the Czech shot-stopper has all the qualities to become a top-class goalkeeper.

When asked about the 23-year-old, De Zerbi responded: “We start from Kinsky because he deserves to start as the first goalkeeper. He is another big potential player. He’s a mature guy, has personality, and I believe in his qualities.”
