Luka Vuskovic’s future at Tottenham Hotspur remains unresolved, but the highly-rated defender has now spoken openly about his next steps and the prospect of working under Roberto De Zerbi.

Luka Vuskovic‘s future with Tottenham Hotspur remains up in the air, and given his enormous quality, there is no denying that Spurs will be hoping to keep him on their books.

However, 25 days have passed since Spurs Web reported that Johan Lange travelled to Germany to hold talks with Vuskovic in an attempt to convince him to extend his Tottenham stay amid interest from a host of clubs.

We are yet to receive confirmation on whether a deal was agreed and what the future holds for the Croatian youngster.

What we do know, however, is that a stay at Hamburg is 99.99 per cent impossible after Vuskovic himself confirmed this following Hamburg’s 3-2 win over Freiburg.

Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic opens up on transfer future

The Croat is World Cup-bound and is currently with the Croatia national team as they prepare for their 2026 World Cup campaign.

While away with the national side, the centre-back spoke to Dnevnik Nova TV and was asked a series of questions regarding his contract situation and future ahead of the summer transfer window.

Journalist Stipe Antonijevic asked the defender about the latest claims that Spurs want to offer him a contract extension before loaning him back to Hamburg.

Responding to the suggestion, Vuskovic admitted it would be his ideal outcome, telling Dnevnik Nova TV: “That would be a dream, and a dream come true for me, but it’s hardly possible. I do not know what else to say, other than, impossible.”

As things stand, the defender will return to the north London club after the World Cup. When asked whether he was motivated following a successful season at Hamburg, Vuskovic told Dnevnik Nova TV: “Honestly, I have not thought about it yet, I am just focused on the World Cup.”

Spurs handed encouragement over Luka Vuskovic plans

Despite all of the noise and interest from a host of clubs, including Liverpool, Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, Vuskovic is adamant he wants to work with Roberto De Zerbi.

Asked about the prospect of playing under the Tottenham boss, the Croatian spoke positively about De Zerbi’s style and approach, telling Dnevnik Nova TV: “Yes, I think he is a top coach, he loves to play, he loves the build-up, I really like that. I hope we will do well in the future.”

Antonijevic immediately pointed out that such a scenario may not be possible if he were to join another major club.

Addressing that possibility, Vuskovic replied to Dnevnik Nova TV: “I do not know, for now I am a Tottenham player, whatever happens, will happen.”
