Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic has delivered a major hint regarding his summer plans amid growing interest from several European giants.

Luka Vuskovic is already regarded as one of the most exciting young players at Tottenham Hotspur, despite not yet having made a senior appearance for the club.

The 19-year-old centre-back has enjoyed a remarkable loan spell at Hamburger SV, where he is currently the joint-highest scorer with six goals this season.

Even more impressively, Vuskovic is statistically rated among the highest-performing centre-backs across Europe’s top five leagues this campaign.

However, those performances have inevitably attracted attention from across Europe, leaving Spurs with a major decision to make this summer.

Vuskovic gives the biggest hint yet on summer plans

Luka Vuskovic has reportedly attracted interest from Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Liverpool, although Barcelona are believed to be the most serious admirers at this stage.

Part of that is due to the connections surrounding the player’s representation. Vuskovic and Barcelona manager Hansi Flick are both represented by Pini Zahavi, who also shares a close relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta. Reports in Spain have suggested Zahavi has been ‘pressing’ the Catalan club to pursue a move for the Tottenham youngster.

Despite that speculation, Vuskovic himself has consistently played down suggestions of leaving Spurs before even making his debut.

Hamburger SV had also been hopeful of extending the defender’s stay in Germany, with one club official previously admitting they would be ready to explore another loan if the opportunity presented itself.

However, Vuskovic now appears to have strongly hinted that his time in Germany is coming to an end. Speaking after scoring in Hamburg’s 3-2 win over Freiburg, the Croatian said:

“To a 99.9 per cent certainty, it was my farewell party… It’s a special moment. I’m very happy that I could help this team. And I’m very happy that I was allowed to be part of this club.”

Tottenham appear determined to keep Luka Vuskovic this summer

It would be a huge blow for Tottenham if Luka Vuskovic were to leave the club before even making a competitive appearance in North London.

That possibility becomes even more concerning given the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven, with at least one departure in defence looking increasingly possible this summer.

Roberto De Zerbi is also likely to already be considering how Vuskovic could fit into his plans, given the defender’s technical ability and confidence in possession. That comes after several sources have already backed the Croatian to compete for a starting role next season rather than heading back out elsewhere.

Encouragingly for Spurs supporters, the club are also believed to be keen on securing Vuskovic’s long-term future. Recent reports claim Tottenham are preparing a new bumper contract for the teenager in an effort to ward off growing interest from Europe’s elite clubs.
