Toby Alderweireld has offered his expertise to Tottenham Hotspur as the club eyes another reset after a difficult campaign.
Spurs will be optimistic of their chances of securing their place in the Premier League next season, with a point from their next two games likely to keep them up.
However, there would undoubtedly need to be a big review into why Tottenham got into the position they did, and the supporters will be hoping that the necessary steps are taken to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
Reports indicate that the North Londoners are set to treat this as a wake-up call, with Tottenham’s owners prepared to spend significantly to rebuild their squad this summer.

Toby Alderweireld is ready to do everything in his power to help Tottenham
There are some big changes expected at the top of the North London club, with Spurs currently looking for a new sporting director, while some sources have also suggested that Johan Lange may exit N17.
Club legend, Toby Alderweireld, has now put his hand up and offered his services to Tottenham if they want it.
When asked if he would be open to returning to Spurs, the fan favourite told The Times: “Yeah, for sure. It’s up to someone else to decide if I have the qualities and about the right position but I would do everything in my power. I think I have good connections with the fans and the club. I know the club, I played there for six years.
“If Tottenham need help, I’m there, why not? I think the other guys would feel the same. We had a wonderful team at that time, that was our strength. If I think about Sonny, Harry Kane, myself, Jan Vertonghen, they were down-to-earth people, good guys. They always put the club number one. Those are the people you want in your club.”
Alderweireld suggests Spurs need figures who have a connection with the club
There has been a growing sentiment among the fan base that the current Tottenham hierarchy, headed by CEO Vinai Venkatesham, does not understand the club’s history and ethos.
Alderweireld feels that it is important for all clubs to have people in the building who understand what it means to represent the badge.
The 37-year-old added: “I always liked the clubs that have players who played there, who know the culture and what it is to play for the badge. When I was at Ajax, there was Marc Overmars, Edwin van der Sar, Johan Cruyff, Dennis Bergkamp, Frank de Boer all in positions, and it helps to have those people in the club — players who achieved things and who are 100 per cent for the club.”
