James Maddison has sent a message to Tottenham fans who made the trip up to Liverpool for the Carabao Cup third-round clash on Tuesday.
Roberto De Zerbi’s men may have been hoping that shifting from the Premier League to the Carabao Cup action would have brought them better luck, but that was not to be.
The Lilywhites gave a decent account of themselves for the majority of the clash at Anfield, fashioning several big chances.
However, their wastefulness in front of goal and some lapses at the back saw them suffer a 3-1 loss, thus being dumped out early from the Carabao Cup.

While the Spurs players may not have got the job done on the pitch, the travelling Tottenham fans certainly did their job off it.
Over 6000 supporters made the trip up to Anfield and were in great voice throughout the game, although they could not inspire their side to a much-needed win.
James Maddison, who came on as a substitute for the final 15 minutes of the game, admitted that the Tottenham players appreciated the efforts of the travelling fans.
Maddison wrote on his Instagram stories: “Top support last night away from home in the middle of the week, up north. Doesn’t go unnoticed by us players. Thank You.”

The 29-year-old showed exactly what Spurs were missing in midfield when he came on against Liverpool, always demanding the ball from his teammates and playing some impressive through balls into the forwards.
However, speaking after the game, De Zerbi admitted that Maddison is not ready to start Premier League matches yet, with the midfielder needing to further build up his fitness.
Interestingly, the Tottenham boss hinted that Savio, Marmoush, Solanke and Kudus could be his ideal front four at the moment.
