Jamie Redknapp reveals what Daniel Levy told Harry Redknapp when he joined Spurs

Following Spurs victory over Manchester United on Sunday, former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp revealed what the hiring process is like for chairman Daniel Levy.

The Skysport pundit revealed what the Lilywhite chairman told his Dad, Harry Redknapp before hiring him in 2008.

When asked if Levy tells new managers their expectations for the season, he told skysports, “I think they had two points from eight games when he first came, so Juande Ramos was under incredible pressure.

“I think he called my dad up on a Thursday, and then by the Saturday, he was already in charge. They played Bolton here, and that was the kind of feeling he had.

“I think they were planning protests that weekend, and he thought, right, rather than have any more stick, I will get him in. Don’t get me wrong, Dad had incredible success.

“He brought a lot of good players in—we got Modrić, Bale, Jermaine was upfront. It was an exciting side, a little bit like Pochettino, so they went really close, but I think there’s a difference there.”

Why are Spurs fans protesting against Daniel Levy?

While Daniel Levy has had off-field success in terms of the management of Tottenham Hotspur, it is the lack of progress or ambition on the field that has left fans frustrated.

In 2019, the white side of north London was competing in the UEFA Champions League final – Fast forward five years, and they are in the bottom half of the table – nowhere near a return to the UCL.

The lack of ambition on the field was further brought to the fray this season, when an injury crisis exposed the lack of depth in the squad, and ultimately derailed Spurs’ 24/25 campaign.

The fans want a change and until there is one, the protests, the chants and the banners will only get bigger.
