Tottenham Hotspur’s announcement of Jan Paul van Hecke’s arrival may not be far away after a big development regarding his £52m transfer.
Although Spurs have not officially confirmed the Dutchman’s signing, many reliable sources are now reporting that Tottenham have reached a complete agreement with Brighton regarding Van Hecke.
The Dutchman looks set to reunite with Roberto De Zerbi, who was the man under whom he established himself as a regular at the South Coast club following a couple of loan spells away from Brighton.
The 26-year-old is part of the Netherlands squad for the World Cup, having impressed in the nation’s tournament opener against Japan.

Jan Paul van Hecke has completed a Tottenham medical
Voetball International journalist Joost Blaauwhof, who has been breaking big updates on Van Hecke since the start of the transfer saga, has now revealed that the defender is one step closer to completing the move to Spurs.
The journalist shared that Van Hecke has completed a medical in Kansas City ahead of the transfer, adding that a deal is now 100 per cent done.
Blaauwhof wrote on X: “Jan Paul van Hecke has passed the medical examination of Tottenham Hotspur. The defender of the Netherlands national team received the green light from the Londoners in Kansas City to transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion. 100% DONE DEAL. More to follow.”
Van Hecke deal is evidence that Spurs are changing how they operate
After the end of last season, Tottenham CEO Vinai Venkatesham declared that Spurs are ready to change how they operate in the transfer market in order to ensure the club can challenge for honours.
The details of the Van Hecke deal are evidence that those were not just empty words from the Spurs chief.
Spurs have not only agreed to pay £52m for Van Hecke but also handed Brighton a 20 per cent sell-on clause, which the Lilywhites would certainly not have done under the old regime for a player who has just a year left on his contract.
