Jeff Stelling makes bold Tottenham claim after ‘quality’ transfer window, better than Arsenal

Jeff Stelling has made a bold claim about Tottenham, insisting that Thomas Frank’s side has not only impressed but actually won the transfer window this summer.

The summer transfer window has finally slammed shut in England, and as always, the fallout from the business done by each club continues to dominate discussions, with Tottenham Hotspur firmly in the thick of it.

Tottenham were among the busiest in the market, even if some of their signings came late in the window, with six new arrivals joining Thomas Frank’s squad at a cost of more than £160 million.

We have offered our own assessment of Tottenham’s transfer activities this summer, but it is not just us, as Jeff Stelling has also had his say, with the broadcaster insisting that Tottenham have come out on top.

Jeff Stelling backs Tottenham as transfer window winners

Speaking on TalkSport, Jeff Stelling was clear in his verdict as he named Tottenham the winners of the summer window, explaining why he felt Spurs had strengthened better than anyone else.

“It is a north London side, Tottenham. The reason why I am going for Tottenham, look, they have lost Heung-min Son, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has left and Mikey Moore has gone on loan to Rangers, but that is pretty much it,” Stelling told TalkSport.

“They brought in the signings they brought in, I think Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, I think they paid a lot of money for him but I do think he is a good player.

Xavi Simons I like very much indeed, I think he is going to be a terrific signing for them. Joao Palhinha, what a fantastic player, we have already seen what a fantastic signing he could be, and they brought in Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG.

“Now, when I have seen him in the past, to be brutally honest, mainly for the French national side, I have not always been impressed, but he certainly has pedigree.

“PSG, on loan at Juventus, they brought him in as well, and I just think maybe numerically they are down compared to some other clubs but the quality they have added is there, and I see Spurs having a good season.”

Tottenham new signings show early promise

While Tottenham may have fallen short of a perfect summer window by failing to add a natural left winger and a left-sided centre-back, there is no doubt that Thomas Frank has been backed in the market.

Several of the new signings have already begun to make their presence felt, with Mohammed Kudus slotting straight into the side and looking comfortable operating off the right flank.

Joao Palhinha has also caught the eye in his early outings, shielding the backline with his usual authority and bringing much-needed control to midfield battles.

Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani are still waiting for their debuts, but Tottenham fans could well see both in action after the international break when Spurs face West Ham.
