Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Sevilla’s strong interest in signing Davinson Sanchez could help Tottenham enormously in their pursuit of Jules Kounde.
The North Londoners have been heavily linked with a move for Kounde over the last couple of weeks, with Gianluca Di Marzio even claiming that Spurs had agreed on a fee of around €30m (£25.6m) plus Davinson Sanchez with Sevilla for the 22-year-old.
Fabrizio Romano revealed on Thursday that negotiations between Sevilla and Spurs for the 22-year-old had hit a roadblock.
Gold has now given Spurs fans some hope by revealing that the La Liga club’s keenness to land Sanchez could work in Tottenham’s favour.
The journalist also added that Kounde might be willing to move to Spurs if he does not get his wish of a transfer to Real Madrid.
He said: “Spurs really like Kounde and it helps enormously that Sevilla are understood to be interested in Davinson Sanchez.
“I understand the player’s first choice would be a move to Real Madrid, but if that does not materialise then Tottenham would come into the picture.
“He’s an interesting target. He’s not the tallest but he does have an incredible spring to his jumps which negates it somewhat.
“He’s also worth a lot of money which is why the Sanchez element could be crucial, if the Colombian would like to move in the opposite direction.
“As I’ll find myself saying repeatedly this summer, Paratici will have many options on the go at one time and Skriniar is certainly another the club will still be looking at.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Based on the various reports on Kounde’s future over the last couple of weeks, it sounds like the bigger challenge for Spurs is convincing the defender to join rather than reaching an agreement with Sevilla. Let’s hope that Nuno and Paratici are able to persuade the defender that a move to Spurs will be the right switch for him.
