Journalist claims £25.5m Spurs player has already made decision on his future

The Telegraph’s Matt Law has revealed he has heard that Giovani Lo Celso is not keen on a return to Tottenham Hotspur next season.

Multiple outlets, including The Times, have reported over recent days that one of Postecoglou’s first orders of business at Tottenham is to oversee a mass clear-out since the Spurs squad is extremely bloated at present.

The report named Lo Celso, along with some of the other players who spent the 2022-23 season out on loan, such as Joe Rodon, Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilon, as players who could be on their way out of Hotspur Way.

It had previously been reported a couple of weeks ago by Cadena SER that the Argentine is of interest to Aston Villa as well as Villarreal, with Unai Emery said to be desperate to take him to Villa Park having previously worked with him at the La Liga outfit.

Could Lo Celso leave Spurs this summer?

If Law’s latest update is to be believed, Lo Celso has already made up his mind to leave N17 when the transfer window opens.

The journalist said on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel: “I think Lo Celso will go. From what I’m told, he does not really want to come back to Spurs.”

Lo Celso joined Spurs from Real Betis in a £27.2million deal in January 2020, following a six-month loan spell at the club (Daily Mail).

Spurs Web Opinion

Among the Tottenham players who were out on loan this season, Lo Celso is likely to generate more interest than any other. So, being one of the most sellable assets among Spurs’ deadwood, it is quite likely that he would be one of the first ones out of the door this summer.

He was unfortunate to miss Argentina’s World Cup win with a hamstring injury but finished the season strongly with some good performances for Villarreal which are likely to have put him in the shop window.
