Journalist reveals that certain claims about Spurs’ Hojbjerg signing are ‘premature’

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has issued an update on Tottenham’s rumoured move for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Multiple reports over the last few weeks have indicated that Spurs are in talks with Southampton over singing the midfielder, who has just one year left to run on his contract at St Mary’s (Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness).

The midfielder has already thrown multiple hints on social media that he wants to complete a move to the North Londoners.

The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that Tottenham were on the verge of agreeing on a £15million deal for Hojbjerg, while they also claimed that Southampton were close to sealing a £12m deal to sign Kyle Walker-Peters permanently.

However, Gold has now taken to social media to reveal that the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement on the transfer fees for either player.

He suggested that both Tottenham and Southampton remained confident that a deal would be finalised sooner rather than later. Gold also revealed that the Lilywhites want to have Hojbjerg singed before they begin their pre-season.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Hojbjerg is not a signing that is likely to take us to the next level, what we will be getting if we manage to sign him is someone who can take on board complex tactical instructions and can be relied upon to do the solid but unspectacular things in midfield. With Jose suggesting that Oliver Skipp might be loaned out next season, the 25-year-old could fill an important role in the squad.
