Journalist reveals three clubs besides Man Utd and Brentford are looking at Eriksen

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed Leeds, Leicester and Newcastle have now entered the race to sign Tottenham target Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.

Eriksen, following a successful spell with Brentford, is set to become a free agent with the six-month deal he signed in January approaching its expiry.

The Bees have been keen to retain the Denmark international heading into next season, but initially faced competition from both Tottenham and Manchester United (ESPN).

However, a possible return to Spurs was recently cooled after the club failed to follow up its contact from more than two weeks ago and those within the club downplayed a potential reunion (Football.London).

Jacobs also confirms that a move to Spurs is the ‘least likely scenario’ for Eriksen, while also noting that Leeds, Leicester and Newcastle have emerged as fresh possible destinations for the Dane.

This comes despite many reporting that Eriksen is currently deciding between Man United and Brentford (Sky Sports).

He told The Football Terrace: “Other clubs that are looking at him that are a bit newer: Leicester City, who considered a January move, and Leeds United and Newcastle. But Manchester United are the most advanced.

“So Manchester United and Brentford are in the mix. Behind them at the moment, but they could advance in the next week: Leicester, Leeds, there’s talk of West Ham United still as well. And Spurs is the least likely scenario.”

Eriksen’s performances for Brentford indicated that he is still more than capable of producing top displays which is why he is so sought-after this summer.

Ultimately, his next move will be his decision and he will want to pick a club that is comfortable for him but also provides him with the platform to perform.
