Journalists suggests contract development is a potential hint of Spurs’ Kane decision

Journalist Graeme Bailey has suggested that Kyogo Furuhashi’s decision to sign a new contract at Celtic could be a sign that Tottenham are not in the market for a replacement for Harry Kane this summer.

Kane’s future continues to be the subject of much speculation, with The Evening Standard reporting last week that Bayern Munich are preparing an improved offer for the striker after their opening bid was turned down by Spurs.

The report added that the England captain would be in favour of a switch to the Allianz Arena if the two clubs can agree on a fee.

This claim was backed up a couple of days ago by journalist Rudy Galetti, who claimed that agreeing personal terms with Kane would not be an issue for Bayern. The journalist added that Tottenham would consider a sale if they receive an offer of around £90m.

Will Harry Kane stay at Spurs?

If Spurs do lose Kane, it is not implausible that they would turn their attention to Furuhashi, with The Sun reporting last month that Ange Postecoglou was keen on reuniting with the 28-year-old at North London.

However, Celtic announced on Tuesday that the Japanese international had put pen to paper on a new four-year deal at Parkhead.

Bailey has now remarked that this development could be a sign that Tottenham have no intention of letting Kane leave this summer.

The journalist said on Talking Transfers podcast: “Furuhashi was strongly linked with Tottenham but it’s maybe a clear sign that Harry Kane definitely won’t be leaving, the fact that Furuhashi has had word that he won’t be going to Tottenham.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Harry Kane’s future had any bearing on Furuhashi’s decision to sign a new contract at Celtic.

If Tottenham do lose Kane this summer, it is clear that they would have to pursue a striker (or maybe even two) of a much higher calibre than the Celtic star.
