Leroy Sane’s salary at Bayern Munich revealed as Tottenham plot free transfer

As rumours abound that Tottenham are showing a keen interest in landing Leroy Sane on a free transfer, we take a look at whether such a deal will be feasible, given the North London club’s strict wage structure.

It emerged on Monday Tottenham have been offered a chance to sign Leroy Sane on a free transfer after Bayern Munich were unable to agree a new deal with the winger.

It was explained that the Bundesliga club had offered the former Manchester City man a three-year deal on reduced terms, but his representatives have rejected that offer.

It has subsequently been claimed by some German outlets that Tottenham are showing the most concrete interest in Sane and that the 29-year-old would be open to joining the Lilywhites after they secured Champions League qualification.

How much does Leroy Sane earn at Bayern Munich?

According to Capology, the 29-year-old’s current deal at the Allianz Arena, which is about to expire, is worth €288,462 (£242,055) per week without bonuses.

That amounts to an annual salary of €15m (£12.5m) with an additional €5m (£4.2m) in bonuses.

It is unclear how much Leroy Sane would demand to join as a free agent this summer, but if the two-time Premier League winner seeks the same level of compensation that he gets in Bavaria, that would mean that Tottenham Hotspur would have to make him their highest-paid player.

The highest earner currently on Spurs’ books is captain Heung-min Son, who takes home £190,000 per week or £9.8m per year.

Will Tottenham show ambition by breaking their wage structure?

It has been reported over recent days that the Tottenham recruitment team will prioritise adding experience to their squad this summer.

Meanwhile, in his final press conference of the season on Sunday, Ange Postecoglou stressed the need for Spurs to sign proven performers to supplement the young talent at the club.

Sane certainly fits the bill, but in order to sign proven world-class quality, one needs to pay big salaries, and it remains to be seen if Daniel Levy would be willing to do that.
