Luka Vuskovic appears to have strongly hinted that his time at Hamburg is over amid growing excitement around his Tottenham future.

Tottenham Hotspur narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League after securing a nervy 1-0 victory against Everton on the final day of the season.

Despite escaping disaster, major changes are still expected in North London this summer after Roberto De Zerbi admitted he wants to build a “new team” and suggested only around 10 to 12 players are currently good enough to remain part of his plans.

Several high-profile departures could follow, including club captain Cristian Romero, but Spurs supporters remain excited by the emergence of Luka Vuskovic. The 19-year-old Croatian spent the season on loan at Bundesliga side Hamburger SV, where he quickly established himself as one of the most highly-rated defenders in Europe.

With interest reportedly arriving from clubs such as Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Barcelona, speculation over his future has only intensified in recent months. Now, Vuskovic himself appears to have dropped his biggest hint yet about what could happen next.

Luka Vuskovic had an impressive loan at Hamburg

After ending the Bundesliga season with six goals and some outstanding defensive performances, Vuskovic posted an emotional farewell-style message on Instagram.

The Tottenham youngster repeatedly referenced his spell at Hamburg as lasting “one year” and “only one season”, strongly suggesting his time at the German club has come to an end.

“One year. One club. One family,” Vuskovic wrote.

“From the first day I arrived in Hamburg, I felt something special. The love, the passion, the support — you made me feel at home immediately.

“Wearing this shirt and the number 44 in the Volksparkstadion was an honour I will never forget. We shared unforgettable moments together, and I gave everything I had every single time I stepped onto the pitch.

“Thank you to my teammates, the staff, and especially the fans. You supported me through everything and showed me what this club truly means.

“Even though my journey here was only one season, HSV will always have a special place in my heart.”

The post has naturally fuelled excitement among Tottenham supporters, many of whom are desperate to see the Croatian integrated into De Zerbi’s first-team plans next season.

Surprise twist emerges regarding Luka Vuskovic’s Tottenham future

Interestingly, despite Vuskovic’s comments and his earlier claim that there was only a “0.01 per cent” chance of remaining at Hamburg, reports now suggest another loan move remains possible.

According to The Independent, Tottenham are still considering sending the defender back to Hamburg for another season in Germany.

Spurs are expected to offer Vuskovic a new long-term contract before potentially sanctioning another temporary move under manager Merlin Polzin.

That possibility has surprised many supporters given how highly the teenager is already rated internally and across Europe.

For now, we believe much of the uncertainty may remain until after the World Cup, where Vuskovic has been called up by Croatia.

Once the tournament concludes, Tottenham are expected to make a final decision on whether the young defender becomes part of Roberto De Zerbi’s rebuild immediately or continues his development away from North London for one more season.
