Marcus Thuram to Tottenham? De Zerbi eyes 52-goal striker after £51m rejected bid

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on French striker Marcus Thuram, who scored 18 times for Inter Milan last season.

Goalscoring has been an issue for Roberto De Zerbi’s side at the start of the season, particularly after last season’s top scorer, Richarlison, was left out of the club’s Premier League squad.

The Tottenham boss will be hoping that new signing Omar Marmoush can hit decent numbers this season and Dominic Solanke can stay fit.

However, it turns out that the Lilywhites are already doing some work on adding a top-class number nine to their squad in January.

Tottenham in three-horse race to land Marcus Thuram

Football 360 have now revealed that Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram has emerged as a target for Spurs ahead of the January window.

The 29-year-old has less than two years left on his contract, and this has piqued the attention of several Premier League clubs.

It is revealed that Thuram, who has 52 goals and 32 assists in 143 matches for Inter, is admired by De Zerbi’s side for his tactical flexibility, finishing and link-up play.

The France international is also being evaluated by Newcastle United, who want to sign a new target man, and Aston Villa, who see him as a good fit for Unai Emery’s system.

Thuram rejected lucrative summer move

Football 360 says that an unnamed Saudi club prepared an aggressive €60m (£51.4m) proposal for the Inter star, and even approached the striker’s representatives with a lucrative salary package.

However, despite the big money on offer, Thuram decided that he wants to continue spending the prime of his career in Europe.

The report adds that the striker either wants to win more silverware with the Nerazzurri or take on a fresh challenge in the Premier League.
