Roberto De Zerbi has revealed that Mohammed Kudus is not far from making his first Tottenham start after spending six months out with injury.
Tottenham Hotspur received a big boost on the injury front earlier this week when James Maddison returned to first-team training after being out for two weeks.
However, that boost was followed by a rather disappointing update after it was revealed that Mykhailo Mudryk had picked up an ankle injury that is set to keep him out for six to eight weeks.
That leaves Mathys Tel as Spurs’ main option on the left, although Roberto De Zerbi has since revealed that Savio and even Maddison are capable of filling in on that flank.

Roberto De Zerbi provides Mohammed Kudus fitness update at Tottenham
However, if Savio is moved to the left of attack, Spurs would need another body on the right wing. Mohammed Kudus offers that, but the wide forward is only returning from a long spell out, having missed the last six months of action.
Kudus is now working his way to full fitness, having featured off the bench in Spurs’ last two matches. He should once again be in contention against Everton, and De Zerbi has revealed that the wide forward is not too far away from a first start.
He told football.london: “I think very close to being ready to start the game. Amazing thing for me. I wanted Mo Kudus when I was in Brighton. I pushed a lot to bring him before he went to West Ham. He can play as a winger, as a number 10 and as a striker also.”
Spurs’ attacking versatility offers solutions despite Mudryk setback
While Mudryk’s injury is a blow, Tottenham do have a lot of versatile options in attack capable of filling in a variety of positions.
Omar Marmoush is another player capable of playing on the left of attack, having already done that in the past with Manchester City.
The Egyptian has started the last two games as Spurs’ number nine but has struggled to find the back of the net in those encounters.
De Zerbi may be tempted to tweak things a bit, and that could see a reshuffling in attack in the match against the Toffees.
