International keeper set for Spurs trial

Tottenham’s search for another goalkeeper has taken another turn after it was revealed that Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan has been invited for a trial.

Ryan currently plays for Australian outfit Central Coast Mariners and will travel to London on August 2nd so the Spurs coaching staff can run the rule over him with the view to a permanent move.

Earlier today, Real Valladolid shot-stopper Jaime claimed Spurs are interested in him.

“It is a magnificent opportunity and experience for Mathew to have a look at a top Premier League club,” Central Coast chief Peter Turnbull told AAP.

“Tottenham move into their new training facility on the first of August so it will be a great experience for him. I think it is reflective of Mathew’s standing in the game.

“He has stature, he deservedly won a number of awards last season and has already been picked as Mark Schwarzer’s understudy for the Socceroos – he is a guy who is sought after.”
