Michail Antonio claims 43-year-old former Spurs star was even better than Luis Suarez

Michail Antonio says that he rates Tottenham legend Robbie Keane higher than Liverpool and Barcelona great Luis Suarez.

Robbie Keane is considered by many Spurs fans to be one of the club’s greatest strikers of the Premier League era, if not of all time.

The Republic of Ireland international made 306 appearances for Tottenham across two spells, scoring 122 goals and registering 32 assists (Transfermarkt).

Robbie Keane rated higher than Luis Suarez

Keane, who was a fan favourite at White Hart Lane, due to his work rate, quality and trademark celebration, was a key part of the Tottenham sides under the likes of Martin Jol, Juande Ramos and Harry Redknapp, helping the Lilywhites lift the League Cup in 2008.

The striker, who formed impressive partnerships with the likes of Jermain Defoe and Dimitar Berbatov at Spurs, also boasts of an outstanding international record, being Ireland’s record goalscorer, with 68 goals to his name in 148 caps.

It turns out Antonio is a big fan of Kane, rating him even higher than Suarez.

The West Ham striker said on a TikTok challenge for JD Football: “Robbie Keane, nine, Luis Suarez, Suarez, he was decent but he’s going to have to go at 10 for me.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Keane was one of my first footballing heroes and I adored him to bits (until he left for Liverpool in 2009). His movement and game intelligence were second to none but even I think it is ridiculous to rate him over Luis Suarez, who was arguably the best number nine of the modern era at his peak.
