Spurs seem to have defied all experts’ predictions with an impressive win against a top-of-the-table club powerhouse in Wolves (tongue firmly in cheek). The way we won—by controlling the ball and creating a handful of scoring opportunities—should certainly give Spurs fans hope and confidence moving forward.

But it was what I saw in the 89th minute that gave me the most hope and confidence.

Giovanni Dos Santos is back.

Well, sorta. One minute. It’s a start.

Harry’s distrust and disdain for the Mexican starlet and his supposed partying ways is well-documented. After three seasons of loan purgatory, Dos Santos looked finally set to find relatively greener pastures than the grounds at White Hart Lane—at least by Gio’s standards—as he was heavily expected to be sold.

It appears ‘arry had a change of heart.

After the summer he had—leading Mexico to CONCACAF riches (scoring this amazing goal along the way)—Giovanni Dos Santos has staked his claim for respect, playing time, and glory in a Tottenham Hotspur kit. Gio has all of the assets and versatility needed to make him a long-time favorite at White Hart Lane.

Gio is fast. That’s a no brainer. Just ask defenders in the Turkish Super League and, even more impressively, La Liga. Dos Santos has Aaron Lennon-like speed without the 100% predictability of his English counterpart.

Dos Santos differs from Lennon and many of his teammates in another key way: versatility. Dos Santos plays almost any position in front of goal, and given the injury curse that has inexplicably plagued almost anybody who slides on a Spurs shirt for the last half-dozen years, we are in desperate need of a renaissance man. It has become an axiom at White Hart Lane that, at some point in the season, we are going to be virtually bare at a position (or positions) due to injuries. Dos Santos can play Attacking Midfield, Winger, and Second Striker, and could work out a niche’ for himself by NOT being a niche’
