Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to get third time lucky in their pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White, who has made an excellent start to the new season.
Tottenham brought 10 new players through the door in the summer for a combined fee of nearly £400m.
Their most expensive signings were in the middle of the park, with the Lilywhites paying £185m to secure Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali from West Ham and Newcastle respectively.
However, it has now emerged that they are ready to spend big on another Premier League midfielder in January.

Tottenham activated Morgan Gibbs-White’s confidential release clause in 2025, but the transfer did not go through after Nottingham Forest threatened legal action for the release clause being leaked.
Spurs were once again credited with interest in the Forest star in the recent transfer window, and it has now been revealed by TEAMtalk that the Lilywhites’ interest in the player has not gone away.
Spurs are ready to revisit a move for the midfielder next year, with the club’s recruitment department continuing to believe that he could improve their side.
The 26-year-old has scored a goal and provided two assists in the opening four league games this season, which has not gone unnoticed in North London.
Tottenham believe Gibbs-White’s ability to influence the game from midfield and his versatility could be an asset to their squad, with sources indicating that they could make a fresh move in 2027.
Forest will not let Gibbs-White leave without a fight
TEAMtalk say that Forest have no desire to lose another one of their key players in January after selling Elliot Anderson to Manchester City in the summer.
However, Gibbs-White will have just 18 months left on his deal at the City Ground in January, which could prove significant.
While Forest are expected to offer their star midfielder a new contract and strengthen their position ahead of the winter, Roberto De Zerbi’s men remain attentive to the player’s situation.
