Tottenham takeover talks break down multiple times due to one Daniel Levy demand

It has now emerged that several billionaires and private equity funds have shown interest in a Tottenham takeover, but those talks have broken down due to the demands that Daniel Levy is making.

Over the last 12 months, we have heard plenty of reports of various business tycoons and consortiums showing interest in buying a stake in Tottenham Hotspur.

Nothing concrete has materialised so far and the North London club have kept things under wraps as the current Tottenham owners come under pressure from supporters to sell.

A fresh report has now suggested that there is one big problem that is preventing interest from potential investors from advancing.

Daniel Levy wants to stay even after Tottenham takeover

Bloomberg have now claimed that various investors, including US billionaires and private equity funds, have all held talks over the past 18 months over buying a stake in Tottenham.

The outlet explains that many of these parties eventually want full control of the club, but talks have repeatedly broken down.

Daniel Levy’s high valuation has put off interested parties, while the Spurs chairman also wants to remain in charge, either as a significant investor or through a lucrative contract that would allow him to hold power over club decisions.

Spurs fans will not want Levy in charge

The primary reason many Spurs fans want to see the club taken over is because they want to move on from Levy, with many feeling that the club’s lack of silverware over the past two decades is down to his decisions.

The idea of the 63-year-old remaining in charge in the event of a takeover will not go down well with a lot of supporters.

However, one can understand why Levy does not want to walk away completely, given the institution he has built. The Tottenham chairman potentially wants to secure his legacy by overseeing on-pitch success, with a lack of trophies being a major black mark on his tenure at the club.
