Tottenham’s Pedro Porro has now addressed the latest round of transfer speculation amid reported interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Tottenham Hotspur have made their stance on Pedro Porro very clear amid interest from both Real Madrid and Manchester City.

The Citizens previously had Porro on their books before selling him to Sporting Lisbon, but they remain keen to improve their right-back depth and have identified him as a target.

Madrid, however, has landed Denzel Dumfries, which should see their interest in Porro reduce. Tottenham are not taking any risks, though, and are looking to tie the defender down to a new deal.

Pedro Porro addresses Tottenham transfer rumours

The Spaniard is currently with the Spanish national team as they look to secure their first World Cup triumph since 2010.

However, that has not kept the rumours away from Porro, with journalists quizzing him about his future.

Speaking about the speculation surrounding his next move, the Tottenham man insisted his focus remains on the tournament.

He said: “I already have enough on my plate without thinking about that now. The future is next week.”

Pressed further about his future, the full-back made it clear that any discussions would have to wait until after the World Cup.

He said, as relayed by AS, “I won’t listen to anything until after the World Cup. Besides, I have a contract with my club.

“If my agent calls, I’ll either not answer the phone or tell him after the World Cup. City? I don’t know anything…”

Spurs may need to reward Pedro Porro with new deal

Spurs will surely have to increase Porro’s wages significantly to keep him in north London. The 26-year-old is on £85,000 per week, and an increase taking him up to £150,000 could well be under consideration.

Fichajes have now reported that Porro remains firmly on Manchester City’s radar, with the outlet also claiming that two other unnamed clubs are monitoring the Tottenham defender’s situation.

According to the report, City are eager to persuade the Spurs full-back to return to the Etihad and are looking to accelerate negotiations in an attempt to steal a march on their rivals.

The outlet adds that Porro’s tactical development and maturity have improved significantly since his permanent departure from Manchester City, which is said to be a key reason behind their renewed interest.

The report concludes by claiming that the Citizens are optimistic about making progress in talks with the players’ representatives and completing a deal in the coming weeks.
