Rafael Leao’s latest public statement will not have gone unnoticed at Tottenham Hotspur as the club continue their summer rebuild.

Tottenham are advancing on a deal to sign Savinho from Man City as Roberto De Zerbi’s men go about adding more firepower to their frontline.

Reports suggest that the Brazilian will not be the only wide player to arrive through the door this summer, with Spurs keen on adding two wingers to their squad.

Rafael Leao is reportedly one of the names on Tottenham’s radar, and the Milan star’s latest comments would have certainly been registered in North London.

Tottenham target Rafael Leao admits he wants Premier League move

A week and a half ago, the Milan attacker confirmed that he is seeking a new challenge this summer after spending seven years at San Siro.

Leao has now publicly reiterated his intention to exit the Rossoneri again, and this time, he specifically named the Premier League as his preferred destination.

The 26-year-old told Sport TV (as translated by The Sun): “I need a new challenge. I already won two trophies in Italy and have been there for a while. The league is evolving, but for my style of football, I think the Premier League or La Liga would make more of my talent, as a player.

“If a Premier League opportunity were to come along, I would be very happy. I think that I can put my talent up against the players there, who are of a very high level. Playing in that kind of league really gets the best out of a player.”

How much would Spurs need to pay to land Leao?

The Lilywhites’ interest in the Portugal international is not new, with Tottenham also allegedly making contact over a deal for the Milan star last summer.

However, it was revealed by CalcioMercato a few days ago that Spurs face competition from Man United and Chelsea for Leao this summer.

The same update asserted that the Rossoneri would be willing to sell the former Lille man for around €50m and €60m (£43.2m-£52m).
