Rangers manager confirms his future transfer stance on Tottenham’s Mikey Moore

Rangers are already pushing to keep hold of one Tottenham Hotspur youngster, Mikey Moore after an impressive loan spell north of the border this season.

Mikey Moore has certainly made Tottenham proud during his loan spell with Rangers this term. The Spurs youngster registered an impressive eight goal contributions in 28 appearances in the Scottish Premiership, including a goal in the Old Firm derby earlier this year.

Moore’s displays for Rangers also earned him personal recognition, with the Tottenham attacker winning the Scottish Premiership Young Player of the Season award.

The 18-year-old will now return to N17 this summer, although his future remains far from certain ahead of the new campaign.

Rangers boss Danny Rohl addresses Mikey Moore Tottenham transfer

Moore is set to return to Tottenham, where Roberto De Zerbi is aiming to keep Spurs in the top flight next season. However, uncertainty still surrounds the teenager’s future, with Spurs Web reporting that Rangers remain keen on keeping Moore at the club.

Rangers manager Danny Rohl has now confirmed the Scottish side will attempt to re-sign Mikey Moore from Tottenham this summer.

Speaking to TalkSPORT about the club’s stance on the youngster and why he fits well within his squad, Rohl admitted Rangers are determined to explore every possibility.

“We are very clear as a club (with) what we want but there are still three parties, and we are just one of them,” he said.

“Mikey, I think he fits really well here, I totally believe we can bring him to the next level as well.

“He has his position, I think also the relationship with Tuur Rommens and Mikey next year could be a strong left side as well.

“But we have to do a lot of things right now, and this is our job to do.”

Spurs face decision over Mikey Moore future

Rohl was also asked about the possibility of waiting until the end of the transfer window to re-sign Moore from Tottenham.

The Rangers boss insisted the club would remain patient if necessary, while also making it clear they are eager to bring the Spurs youngster back as quickly as possible.

“I think we have to be patient, but also on the front foot with him,” he insisted. “We are clear, we will try everything.

“Maybe, if there’s a chance, and it makes sense to wait for him then of course, we will wait.

“But if you ask me, then I would have him straight in (for) pre-season. I prepare my team for a good start in the season.

“Of course, it’s important, you cannot allow to come so far from behind in a new season, we have to start really well, really strong. We have to work hard to get a great performance and a great start.”
