‘Ready for next season’ – Kyle Walker-Peters tweets after Southampton loan ends

Kyle Walker-Peters has admitted that he did not want the season to end this year with the way things were going on the pitch after Southampton ended their campaign with an impressive 3-1 win over Sheffield United.

The right-back has been one of Southampton’s best players since the restart and has earned the praise of Ralph Hasenhuttl (Southern Daily Echo).

Some Saints fans are desperate for the club to complete a permanent deal for the 23-year-old when the transfer market opens.

It has been suggested that the Spurs academy graduate could be used in a swap deal to bring Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Tottenham (Sky Sports).

While Hojbjerg did not even make Southampton’s matchday squad against the Blades, Walker-Peters started again at right-back and put in another tidy display.

After the win, the young defender took to social media to reveal his pride at his side’s impressive end to the season.

Walker-Peters also admitted that he is looking forward to next campaign, although only time will tell if it will be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or St Mary’s.

Spurs Web Opinion

Reading between the lines of what Jose said about Walker-Peters recently, it does seem as if he has made his mind to sell the right-back this summer. The club will likely use him as a bargaining chip to try and bring Hojbjerg’s price down. Looking at how well Walker-Peters has played since the restart, I expect that Hasenhuttl would be desperate to sign him, even though he might not admit it publicly.
