Sergio Reguilon remained coy when asked whether he had spoken to his former Real Madrid teammate, Sergio Ramos about a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur but he did admit that he regularly speaks to the central defender.
Reports of Tottenham’s interest in Ramos first emerged last month when 90min.com claimed that the North Londoners had reached out to the legendry defender’s representatives over a potential January transfer.
The Evening Standard reported on Monday that the Real Madrid man was one of two central defensive options Spurs are considering in January.
Some Spurs fans on social media have refused to believe that there is any truth to the reports linking the World Cup winner with a move to the Lilywhites.
However, Reguilon refused to dismiss the idea, merely joking that Ramos would not listen to him.
When asked whether he would send the centre-back a message to convince him to come to Spurs, the left-back told AS: “(Laughs) He wouldn’t pay much attention to me!”
Reguilon was then asked whether he took Ramos’ advice before completing his transfer to Tottenham to which he responded: “Yes of course. In fact the other day I was talking to him.”
However, the 23-year-old admitted that he expects the legendry defender to sign a new deal at Real Madrid.
When asked about Ramos’ contract situation, the Tottenham star said: “I think that in the end it will end up solving.
“Both for Madrid and Sergio. Seen from the outside, I don’t see a Madrid without Ramos.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It would be an unbelievable coup if Jose and Reguilon could somehow convince Ramos to come to Spurs. However, I fully expect him to soon be offered a new contract by Real Madrid as the centre-back, even at 34 years of age, is still a very important player for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
