Report: 22-year-old wanted by Mourinho told he’s going nowhere by current club

Tottenham’s hopes of landing Eder Militao may be over after Real Madrid told the centre-back that he will be staying at the club beyond the summer.

Militao has seen very little game time in the Spanish capital since moving from Porto last summer and El Desmarque reported last month that Jose Mourinho is a fan of the 22-year-old.

The report even added that the Spurs boss had already contacted Madrid supremo, Florentino Perez, over his Militao’s availability.

Some Spurs fans became quite excited upon hearing that the club were being linked with a move for Militao. However, Marca now report that the Brazilian defender has been told that he will be staying at Real Madrid next season.

The report asserts that Militao is now considered to be Real Madrid’s third-choice centre-back behind Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.

It is claimed that Zinedine Zidane feels that the young defender is currently adapting and is convinced that he can be an important player for the club in the future.

Just like the rumours about our interest in Luka Jovic, the links to Militao were always far-fetched as the chances of Real Madrid cutting their losses on him after just a year was quite remote.
