Report: Chelsea ready to sell 25-year-old defender amidst reported Spurs interest

Chelsea are reportedly ready to sell defender Kurt Zouma amidst Tottenham links to the 25-year-old Frenchman (The Boot Room).

With Chelsea expected to flex their muscles this transfer window, they are anticipated to sell some of their fringe players in order to raise funds (Daily Star).

It is understood that Jose Mourinho is keen on reuniting with Zouma as Spurs begin to plan for life without senior defender, Jan Vertognhen.

The Blues have been heavily linked with RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner this week but, in order to balance the books, they may have to sell players to bring in the German striker (BBC).

Spurs are expected to lose veteran defender, Vertonghen, this summer with the Belgian’s contract set to expire at the end of this month (Sky Sports).

Spurs Web Opinion

Frank Lampard has plenty of options at centre-back, so it is possible we could see Zouma be one of the players on his transfer list. There are definitely worse options out there than Zouma. It all depends on how much it will take for Chelsea to allow him to go for. It will be a shame to see Vertonghen go, but it is probably time we part ways with the Belgian. It would be interesting to see where Davinson Sanchez stood if Zouma was to come in.
