Report: Club ‘would not hesitate’ to sign Spurs midfielder if they get green light

The Athletic have revealed that Norwich City still retain hope of re-signing Oliver Skipp on loan next season.

Skipp has come of age during his loan spell at Norwich this season and his consistent displays at the base of the Canaries midfield even saw him make Sky Sports’ Championship Team of the Season.

Some Spurs fans are excited by the 20-year-old’s potential and are hopeful that he can make a big impact on his return to Tottenham next season.

It was previously revealed that Jose Mourinho had earmarked an important first-team role for Skipp and that Spurs would not loan him out next season.

However, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the England Under-21 international now that Mourinho has departed.

Daniel Farke stated last month that the Canaries will hold talks with Tottenham about re-signing the midfielder on loan next season but admitted that the decision is out of their hands.

The Athletic have now revealed that Norwich are assessing options to replace the Spurs academy graduate ahead of their return to the Premier League next season.

However, the report adds that Farke’s men would not hesitate to re-sign Skipp for next season if they get a late window nod from Tottenham.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is unlikely that we would loan Skipp out given that we could be in need of reinforcements in midfield if Sissoko and Winks depart. However, loaning out the 20-year-old to Norwich for another season could potentially be used as a bargaining chip to try and snap up the likes of Max Aarons or Emiliano Buendia. Perhaps the decision on Skipp’s future will be left to the new Spurs manager.
