Report: European giant ready to offer midfielder to Spurs in Ndombele swap deal

Wednesday’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by TBR Football) claimed that Inter Milan are ready to offer Marcelo Brozovic to Tottenham in a swap deal for Tanguy Ndombele.

There was some hope among a section of the Spurs fan base that Ndombele would be able to showcase his attributes after the restart of the Premier League season only for the midfielder to struggle for game time before his campaign was ended due to a knee injury (Evening Standard).

Reports had suggested that the midfielder could leave the North Londoners with Barcelona reported to be interested in offering him an escape route. (L’Equipe).

However, reports have claimed that Tottenham would be unwilling to take a financial hit on the 23-year-old, after the club shattered their transfer record last summer (Football.London).

However, if the report by Corriere dello Sport is to be believed, it appears that Inter have offered Spurs a tempting proposition.

It is revealed that Antonio Conte’s side are willing to part ways with Brozovic if they can get their hands on Ndombele.

The Croatian international has reportedly been a long-term target for Spurs (Sportske Novosti via Bleacher Report) and with his release clause set at €60 million (£55m), his value would be similar to the Tottenham midfielder.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Jose will likely prefer to sell Ndombele this summer and reinvest the money into the squad but with the depressed market, I doubt we are going to get an offer that meets Levy’s asking price. The only way I can see the former Lyon man leaving is though a swap deal.

Brozovic certainly has a profile that Jose likes in a midfielder and he arguably would fill a hole in the Spurs squad. While I am not sure if a direct swap would be a good deal for us, I can see Jose potentially being tempted given that Ndombele does not seem to be in his plans.
