Report: Premier League rivals consider turning to Tottenham stadium designers

According to The Evening Standard, Chelsea could take inspiration from Tottenham Hotspur as they aim to redevelop Stamford Bridge.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the envy of the Premier League, with the venue managing to recapture the atmosphere of White Hart Lane but at a greater capacity rather than being a soulless concrete bowl like a few other modern stadia are.

The way the stadium has been designed, with a retractable pitch to host NFL, other sporting events and concerts, and with the huge array of food and drink outlets, has made it a huge revenue generator for the club.

Chelsea could turn to Spurs stadium designers

The Standard have now revealed that the Blues are also pondering a redevelopment of Stamford Bridge, which has been their home since 1905.

It is explained that Chelsea are yet to decide on whether they want a full rebuild, a stand-by-stand renovation or a move to a different location.

The West London side have allegedly contacted Populus, who were the architects for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, to seek ideas on how to move forward.

It took Tottenham well over a decade from the ideation stage to finally deliver the stadium. Given where Chelsea are located and the real-estate constraints there, their efforts will likely prove even more complicated and possibly more expensive.
