Report reveals what Roma have told Spurs after enquiring about midfielder

The Guardian claim that Roma have let Tottenham Hotspur know that Nicolo Zaniolo is not for sale this summer.

Despite having an injury-hit season, Zaniolo’s reputation is still sky-high, with the midfielder being viewed by many, including Fabio Capello as one of the rising superstars of Italian football (The Athletic).

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old last summer (Mirror) but he ended up staying at the Stadio Olimpico.

The North Londoners are still said to hold interest in the Italian international according to Leggo.

Some Spurs fans believe that the midfielder is exactly the type of signing the club have to make this summer to signal their intent of returning to the top four.

The Guardian have now suggested there is truth to Tottenham’s rumoured interest in Zaniolo, with the report claiming that Jose Mourinho’s side have asked Roma about the midfielder’s availability.

However, it is suggested that Serie A giants have told Tottenham that they have no intention of selling the youngster this summer.

Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has also previously claimed that Zaniolo is not for sale this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Zaniolo was for sale, he would be out of our price range. In case we get a cash influx through selling Ndombele, I believe that money would be better spent strengthening other areas of the pitch where we are weaker than attacking midfield.
