Tottenham fans want Daniel Levy to step aside

While Levy‘s business acumen is not in doubt, there is a perception among Spurs fans that the main issue at N17 is the Tottenham chairman’s tendency to influence football decisions, with many wanting him to step aside from the footballing side of the club.

Some Tottenham fans are organising a protest against the chairman as they host Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this evening.

Levy will argue that he has already done that by bringing in Fabio Paratici as the managing director previously to oversee the club before appointing Scott Munn as the chief football officer after the Italian’s departure.

An interesting report has now shed light on how the Tottenham board operates and who they consult before making big calls.

Does Levy get involved in footballing decisions?

BBC Sport have spoken to various sources who have worked closely with the Tottenham hierarchy to get a picture of how decisions are made at the top.

The outlet claims that those they spoke to make it clear that the Spurs board are open to outside views, but at the same time, it can be hard for newcomers to have a voice.

Sources say that the club accept people of various backgrounds onto the board, meaning there is a wide range of expertise, not just in the business of football.

Additionally, it is revealed that there is another six-person board, which includes Scott Munn and Johan Lange, who sit just underneath and advise the club on all footballing decisions.

This six-person board will have a major say on any managerial appointments, while the transfer decisions are fully led by Lange, and only finalised by Levy.

Munn is the man who is fully in charge of running all other aspects of football operations at the North London club.

Tottenham insiders accept false steps but are happy with recruitment

The outlet adds that the Spurs board accept that they have not always spent their transfer funds wisely.

They recognise that they have made some big mistakes in the past in the transfer market, but they believe that they have fully backed their recent managers, including Ange Postecoglou.

The publication also reveals that internally at Spurs, they are happy with some of the recruitment decisions they have made in the last 12 months, including the signings of Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall.
