Report: Spurs in the hunt for in-form German midfielder

According to a report by German publication Sport1, Tottenham Hotspur are competing with some of the biggest clubs in Europe for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus.

Neuhaus has impressed for Gladbach for over the past couple of seasons and has now established himself as one of the first names on Marco Rose’s teamsheet (transfermarkt).

The central midfielder is once again having an impressive campaign, having scored five goals and provided six assists so far this season (transfermarkt.com).

His performances have seen him break into the German national side ahead of the European Championships next summer and if Sport1 is to believed, he is also attracting interest from across the continent.

Apart from Tottenham, the report claims that Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also in the race for the 23-year-old but the midfielder is not said to be keen on a move to the Allianz Arean since he has doubts about being a regular starter for the Champions League holders.

Meanwhile, it is suggested that Neuhaus might prove too expensive an option for Dortmund.

Real Madrid are also said to be ready to rival Tottenham for the midfielder, who is thought to have a release clause of around €40m (£35.5m).

Spurs Web Opinion

I can see there being truth to our rumoured interest in Neuhaus as we will have to replace Dele Alli, who looks likely to be sold in the summer. While many Spurs fans seem to prefer Sabitzer, I believe that Neuhaus could prove to be a more prudent signing, particularly given his age and relatively modest release clause.
