Report: Spurs set for battle with Arsenal for Serbian midfielder

Tottenham are just one of five Premier League sides who are said are monitoring Serbian midfielder Dejan Zukic, according to the Daily Star.

Everton, Leicester City, Southampton and Arsenal are all believed to be interested in the youngster.

The 19-year-old has had scouts from all over Europe come to watch him throughout his breakout season at Serbian side, Vojvodina Novi Sad.

Zukic has drawn comparisons to his countryman and in-demand Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic having demonstrated his attacking prowess.

The report suggests both Inter Milan and Olympiacos have already made enquiries for the young midfielder but a list of Premier League clubs remain interested.

Zukic has featured 25 times in the Serbian Super Liga and in those appearances, he has netted on four occasions (Transfermarkt).

However, the majority of the youngster’s appearances have come from off the bench as an impact substitution.

Zukic is just one of a long list of transfer targets Spurs have been linked with despite Jose Mourinho stating he has not thought about summer transfer moves.

Before you say you have never heard of him, just remember some gems have come from Eastern Europe. Take Luka Modric and Dimitar Berbatov for example. It would be hard to see where Zukic could fit into the squad given the likes of Erik Lamela are still on the books but it would certainly make for an interesting signing if it is one Spurs go after.
