Report: £45m Spurs star is playing for his future amidst La Liga interest

According to a report from Estadio Deportivo, Giovani Lo Celso is playing for his future at Tottenham and how the midfielder performs when he returns from injury will likely dictate whether he remains at the club next season.

Lo Celso has been out with a hamstring injury since Tottenham’s 2-0 loss to Leicester back in December.

The Argentine has returned to first-team training but Jose Mourinho has admitted that the North Londoners are being cautious with the midfielder and want to ease him back into action.

Meanwhile, some reports have indicated that the 24-year-old is attracting plenty of interest from La Liga clubs owing to his impressive showing at Real Betis in the 2018-19 season.

Some Spurs fans on social media are divided over the rumours on Lo Celso’s future, with a few believing that it would be in the club’s best interest to cash-in on him due to his injury issues while others suggest that the best is yet to come from the midfielder.

Estadio Deportivo now discuss how Lo Celso’s place in the Spurs side is far from guaranteed when is fit to play due to the resurgence of Dele Alli and the form of Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura.

The report claims that a return to La Liga is on the cards for the former Paris Saint-Germain star but it is suggested that Spurs will have to accept a big loss on the midfielder (the club paid around £45m) if they were to sell him at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Mourinho is clearly a huge fan of Lo Celso and so I do not believe that his future at Spurs is in danger. I believe that Harry Winks and Dele Alli are much more likely to leave the club in the summer than Lo Celso is but a lot could change between now and the end of the season.
